Thor Bjornsson Shared His Favorite Protein Pancake Recipe

Hafthor Bjornsson, aka The Mountain from Game of Thrones, aka “Thor,” is a big guy. And while he has leaned down considerably in the last two years, shedding over 100 pounds as he transitioned from world-class strongman to boxer, Bjornsson still eats a lot of protein to maintain his physique. In a new video on his YouTube channel, he demonstrates how to prepare one of his “all-time favorite” meals: banana pancakes.

“These are super easy to make, and super simple ingredients,” he says.

You’ll need the following ingredients:

  • eggs
  • bananas
  • flax seeds
  • chia seeds
  • hemp seeds
  • cinnamon
  • oats
  • whey protein powder

    Preparing enough for two servings, Bjornsson starts out by blending two bananas into a puree. “Usually I like the browner ones more, because they’re easier to digest, higher in fiber and also have more of a sweeter taste,” he says. He beats seven eggs and mixes them with the banana, then adds one and a half tablespoons each of ground flax, chia and hemp seeds. Next he adds 60 grams of oats, 2 scoops of vanilla flavored protein powder, and sprinkles cinnamon into the mixture.

    After greasing a frying pan with butter and heating it, Bjornsson then spoons the batter onto the surface. They cook pretty fast, so don’t wait too long before flipping them. They turn out quite thick—if that’s not how you like your pancakes and prefer them thinner and more crepe-like, you can fix it easily by adding more eggs to the batter.

    “They actually taste even better the next day,” he says.
