Sometimes we need a murder mystery that is a little more light-hearted. Recipes for Love and Murder is going to be one of those shows to watch.
While there is a love for gritty crime dramas, there are times that we want something that reminds us of Murder, She Wrote or an Agatha Christie novel. This is where shows like Recipes for Love and Murder come into play.
The first two episodes of the new series drop on Acorn TV tonight. The release times are usually around 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT on the day of release. We’ll see the first two episodes drop on Monday, Sept. 5. This is perfect for a lazy Labor Day afternoon.
What is Recipes for Love and Murder about?
The series stars Marie Doyle Kennedy as Tannie Maria. Maria did have a recipe column in her local paper, but it’s cut out. She asks if she can be an advice columnist instead, and that’s when she looks through all the letters that have been sent.
One of them is from a woman who is found dead. This letter is about her abusive partner, and Maria ends up in the middle of the mystery. She wants to solve who did it, and she’s willing to take a local, risk-taking journalist along for the ride. The problem is the local cops aren’t too happy with Maria’s involvement in the case, especially when she starts licking the evidence.
If you take a look at the trailer below, you’ll get a good sense of what to expect in the series. This is one of those that’s light-hearted. Doyle Kennedy gets to show her humorous side, which hasn’t been possible with past roles in the likes of Kin, Outlander, and The Tudors.
Recipes for Love and Murder airs Mondays on Acorn TV. Don’t forget that Acorn TV is part of the Amazon Channels lineup.
