Easy Recipes for National Waffle Day – Tricks and Tips


It’s National Waffle Day, and what better way to celebrate than making some unique waffles!

These two recipes below are great to make with kids if you want to try something different. Try these recipes below!

A spin on a carnival favorite — Corn Dog ‘Carnival’ Waffles


  • 1 pack of hot dogs
  • 1/2 cup Bisquick mix
  • 1/2 cup cornbread mix
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream or plain greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons ground Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • A couple Creole seasoning
  • Skewers


  1. Mix all ingredients together into a smooth consistency, batter will be thick.
  2. Cut hot dogs in half, the long way & add a skewer to each.
  3. Add batter to waffle iron & place hot dogs on top batter.
  4. Spin the hot dogs around in batter & cover the hot dog with more batter.
  5. Close waffle iron, it will be a little messy & spill over the sides!
  6. Enjoy with ketchup or mustard!

Waffle Ice Cream Sandwiches

Ingredients: (makes about 7 mini waffles)

  • 1 cup Bisquick mix
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/3 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil or olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • Sprinkles
  • Your choice of ice cream


  1. Mix all ingredients until smooth to make the waffle batter.
  2. Pour into waffle iron.
  3. Wait until waffles are cooled down & add your ice cream of choice on top of one waffle, top off with second waffle like a sandwich.
  4. Roll in sprinkles.
