Best Pepper Steak with Grits Recipe

Pepper Steak, also known as Steak au Poivre, consists of tender strips of beef with sautéed peppers and onions, usually served over rice.

Although this Pepper steak recipe isn’t the traditional way to make it, it’s not that far from the original. Grits take the place of the usual rice, and I added sharp white cheddar to give it some depth. 

Not to mention that cheese is always a good idea!

What Type of Meat is Pepper Steak Made With?

Pepper steak is typically made with flank steak, flat iron steak or sirloin steak. For this dish, I incorporated jalepeño peppers, which typically aren’t in everyday pepper steak recipes, but y’all know me—I love them. I also used a pepper called “Aloha” pepper.
